Choose positions and workspace access

Give each staff member the positions and dashboard access that match their work.

Position and access controls are shown only to people who can manage staff roles.

Set a staff member's position and workspace access without giving them more access than their work requires.

Available to

Owners and admins who can manage staff roles. Owner access has additional safeguards and can be changed only by an eligible owner.

Before you start

Decide whether the person teaches, handles school-wide operations, or does both.

Steps

  1. Open Staff, choose the person, and select Edit or Edit staff member.
  2. Under Positions & access, turn Teaching on if the person teaches students.
  3. Turn Front desk & operations on if the person manages school-wide scheduling, clients, messages, or other daily operations.
  4. Review Business & workspace access:
    • Teaching-only staff can use the limited teaching workspace or broader Staff access, depending on the available choice.
    • Front desk & operations includes Staff access and locks that choice accordingly.
  5. Select Update staff.

What happens next

The Staff directory updates the person's type and permission badges. Their navigation and available actions follow the saved access level the next time their dashboard access is evaluated.

If you do not see this option

  • You may not have permission to manage staff roles.
  • The staff member may be protected by active Owner access.
  • Some plans limit staff management or offer only a single-teacher workspace.
